Another One!

The Environment Committee have received yet another green flag. This
is the fifth green flag the school has received. In order to get this
particular flag they had to create European awarness in the school.
The put up posters, carried out surveys, held poster and poems
competitions. All this paid off and they did a sufficient amount to be
awarded the green flag.

Environmental Fashion Show

The Laurel Hill Environmental Fashion show 2012 was a big success
again this year with many guests including Willie O’Dea. The theme for
the fashion show was global and European fashion. The difference
between this fashion show and every other is that all the clothes have
to be made from recyclable material. The winner was Rebecca McMahon
whose country was Africa. Emily Kennedy was second place with France
and in third place was Emma Moloney with Germany. Finally claiming the
spot of most creative was Nhiequel-Anne Lingat with Italy. Big thanks
to all the teachers involved and the Green Schools Committee which
organized the event.
The proceeds were divided between Sinead Mcdonald from Bothar and
Breda Bourke who is participating in shave or dye for the Irish cancer
society.

Environment Committee

This is an important reminder for the students of Laurel Hill. The Environment Committee is calling on everyone to learn the Green Code. Members of our Committee put up the code in every classroom of the school and along the corridors to make it easy for everyone to learn. Please put in effort to learn the Green Code. Thanks.

Laurel Hill’s Enviroment Fashion Show

The Environment Committee would like to remind everyone participating in the environmental fashion show to start brainstorming and getting their outfits ready which would be made from recycled materials and on the subject of Europe and the countries they were given,

Good look to all entries.

Michael Noonans visits Laurel Hill today

Laurel Hill had a special visitor today . The Minister for Finance Michael Noonan came to the school to raise the schools 4th green flag. The Head Girls , Deputy Head Girls, Games Captains and past and present members of the greenschools committee greeted him at the door. There was  then a ceremony in the church with all the 1st and 2nd years also. Mr Cregan spoke and then Mr Noonan said a few words . We presented him with the flag and got pictures taken . We had a questions and answers session  with Maria Byrne and Michael Noonan in the religion room. It was an honour to have a person of such a position in our school.
