Advice to future members of Top Button

Expect a lot of hard work, your going to be sending one sometimes two posts a week and you constantly have to be coming up with new fresh ideas.
Be prepared to use your social skills. You are going to be talking to a lot of teachers and you will often be a part of different teams.
Get involved in class. Dont be afraid to speak up in class and share your ideas. This is how progress happens e.g. the launch of our tv studio this year!
Be organised. Try to always have ideas ready for your weekly posts. You will also at some point of the year have to do a Top Button portfolio where you will ned to have a log of your tasks completed so far.

My Top Button experience.

I have found Top Button to be very challenging but also very rewarding at the same time. I have had to be very proactive when it comes to coming up with new and innovative ideas for the blog. There are also many responsibilities something I particularly experienced as an editor as I had to put up two posts every Monday without fail.

Transition Year is Coming to an End

Hi there! Once a fortnight of school remains for most students, TYs only have one week to go. Their exams will commence on Wednesday along with the sixth year graduation whilst 1st, 2nd and 5th years will have them the week after. Best of luck to everybody!

Genezzano Hosts.

Genezzano FCJ our sister school from Melbourne Australia are coming to visit us again in September as part of their international sports tour. They arrive on 23 September for two days.
The first one they will spend with us in school playing games and getting to know us. The second they will do a day trip to the Burren.
We are looking for host families for the two nights. Anyone interested in hosting one (or two!) Australians please meet Miss Leo before the end of the year.

Student Council Elections.

A big thank you to everybody who nominated themselves for next years Student Council.

Student Council elections will take place tomorrow.

Each year will be called out on the intercom during the morning at their designated times.

They will then be given a sheet to vote for the nominees in their year.

Advice to Third Years Intending to do TopButton

Here is some advice from members of the current TopButton Team!

1.Make a habit of writing your articles every week so then you wont forget during the year!

2.TopButton isn’t in Irish so don’t let that hold you back from joining

3.Make the most of it, you only have a year and it flies!!

4.Be a sports correspondent!

5.you should join it because it’s not like any other classes, you’ll never forget it and you’ll have great memories.

6.Have a great time

•be organised.

•do not put yourself up for a job unless you are willing to do it

•dont wait to be asked… just do it

•get involved in as much stuff as you can, this is living the experience to the full.

•be an editor

•have fun and enjoy your experience.

Notice to TY students….remember you have to bring back ALL the books loaned out to you at the beginning of the year. Failure to do so means you will have to pay for replacements!!

Golf

Dervla o Neill, Karen Gallagher and Jennifer Wise all in second year who took part in the school golf classic on Friday in Bally kisteen golf club as the pupil representatives- the girls won the competition and a love prize of pink golf balls for there effort. Many thanks to all on the parents council and especially Ger Ryan who looked after the girls on the day.
